At Van’s Tire Pros, we’re proud to be part of the Wadsworth community and to invest in the safety of our next generation of drivers. That’s why our Wadsworth team partnered with Kelli’s Crusade and Advanced Insurance Designs / Seibert & Keck to bring the Vehicle 101 program to Wadsworth High School.
Vehicle 101 is designed for teen drivers—whether they have their learner’s permit or their driver’s license—and offers a hands-on, real-world introduction to vehicle safety and maintenance. Students sign up for the program and stay after school for an interactive learning experience that builds confidence behind the wheel.
The program begins in the classroom, where Sharon Baker from Kelli’s Crusade shares the powerful story behind the organization and its mission to promote safe driving. Through a partnership with Drive Team, Kelli’s Crusade provides scholarships for students to attend the “Avoiding the Crash” driving course. This advanced course teaches teens how to handle challenging road conditions and make safer decisions on the road. Every student who attends Vehicle 101 has the opportunity to apply for a scholarship—and Van’s Tire Pros and Advanced Insurance Designs are proud to help fund these life-saving opportunities.
After the classroom session, the learning continues with a practical presentation from the Van’s Tire Pros Wadsworth team. Students are introduced to key topics from our Vehicle Safety Guide, including how to understand dashboard warning lights, read a tire placard, and build a basic roadside safety kit.
From there, it’s time to get hands-on. Students move into the school’s auto shop, where our manager and ASE-certified technicians walk them through a real vehicle safety inspection. They learn how to check essential fluids, identify components under the hood, and even practice changing a tire—locating the spare and using the proper tools. Students also get to check tire pressure and measure tread depth using professional gauges provided by Van’s Tire Pros.
By the end of the afternoon, students walk away with practical skills, new knowledge, and a greater sense of confidence as they begin their driving journey. Programs like Vehicle 101 are just one of the many ways Van’s Tire Pros is committed to keeping our community safe—one driver at a time.
